The University of Sussex launches a more flexible degree structure: Sussex Choice

University of Sussex

Sussex Choice offers a tailor-made student experience

A major new initiative making it easier for future Sussex students to tailor their experience at the University has been launched in the 2015 prospectus.

Sussex Choice gives all undergraduates the opportunity to broaden their studies by:

  • taking electives
  • taking minor pathways
  • engaging in study abroad
  • undertaking professional placements

Students are able to choose from 18 new Sussex Choice pathways, which build on the structured flexibility in the new curriculum.

Alongside a single-honours course, a student choosing a pathway can take a coherent programme of study in another subject – such as criminology, heritage, psychology, international business or a world language – in their first and second years.

Through Sussex Choice, the University is also expanding the range of opportunities that it offers to students to undertake year-long placements, usually taken between the second and final years, to provide students with the opportunity to gain new perspectives, experience and skills that employers are looking for.
