This course is for Year 12 (IB1) students who are studying Physics or Physical Sciences at pre-university (IB HL or AS Level) and who are considering applying to study Physics or related subjects at university.
The course will provide a taste of university life in all its diversity. During the three day programme students will attend lectures, visit the research and teaching laboratories of the Department of Physics, live in University student accommodation and make use of our recreational, sporting and social facilities.
The teaching programme will be led by top academics in the field of Physics and Astronomy. You will also learn about the research that the department is involved in as well as finding out where a Physics degree could take you. A number of Exeter Student Ambassadors, who are current students will be living and working alongside you and will be leading the activity programme.
The fee for the 2015 Pre-University Physics Course is £250, and is inclusive of full board accommodation at Student Halls of Residence and all social activities. This starts with lunch on Wednesday 8 July and ends with lunch on Friday 10 July 2015, inclusive of the social programme activities.
*This does not include transport costs to or from the University. Students are expected to make their own travel arrangements, but will be provided with further information about transport to and from Exeter upon formally registering for the course.
Bursaries are available to cover the Pre-University Physics Course fees. Applications are invited from students who satisfy one or more of the following criteria:
• currently living in care
• limited/no family history of attending a Higher Education Institution
• low-income household or students with parent/carer unemployed
• currently in receipt of free school meals
