New Undergraduate Degrees from Ravensbourne: ‘Design and Coding’ and Fashion Buying and Management’

Ravensbourne is an an industry-focused university college located in the heart of digital London on the Greenwich Digital Peninsula located just 20 minutes from Tech City, London’s fastest growing media and technology hub. They offer further education, undergraduate, postgraduate and short courses in the areas of fashion, media and design all in their award winning purpose built building.

Ravensbourne have strong links and working relationships with industry, a high graduate employment rate along with state of the art facilities.

They are adding 2 new undergraduate degrees to their portfolio from September 2015.

Design and Coding BA (Hons)

This courses focuses on exploring the relationship between design, electronics and interactive devices, whilst gaining a deep understanding of the user experience and human behavior.  Students will be encouraged to experiment with new technologies and develop a wide variety of skills that make them particularly valuable to industry.  This degree will prepare students for a wide variety of careers including: interaction designer, multimedia developer, product designer and user experience designer in sectors such as financial services, data visualization, toys and games, digital advertising, interactive electronics, online apps, social media and interactive exhibitions.

Fashion Buying and Brand Management BA (Hons)

Students will learn about forecasting trends, consumer behavior, psychographic profiling and what makes people buy.  They will gain practical knowledge about the product development process including fabric selection and testing, colour management, quality management and sustainability.  They will learn about predicting the trend, planning the range, building the brand, and then now to protect and promote it. The course  aims to develop creative skills as well as problem solving, organisational, planning, promotional and management skills. CAD lessons will facilitate creative presentation while other CAD/CAM management tools will also be experienced in preparation for industry. This degree will prepare students to pursue a role within the fashion industry, principally: fashion buying; merchandising; garment technology; product development; visual merchandising; brand management and fashion promotion.
