Economics: Game Theory Masterclass at Aston University
Wednesday 20 January 1.15 pm – 3.15 pm
This session will involve an introduction to game theory and aim to familiarise students with the concept of a dominant strategy and a mixed strategy Nash equilibrium. We will discuss Adam Smith’s ‘invisible hand’ and contrast it with the work of John Nash. We will use a number of games to illustrate this; the Prisoner’s Dilemma, Bachelor Pad, Matching Pennies and competitive sport.
Aston’s Masterclass Programme provides stimulating workshops from Aston University academics at the forefront of their subject area. These free sessions offer a great opportunity for Year 12 and 13 students to enrich their current studies and to discover more about studying a particular subject for Higher Education.
