Transport Masterclass: Connecting Communities. The future of urban mobility (Delivered with Centro) at Aston University
Wednesday 20 January 1.15 pm – 3.15 pm
Delivered in conjunction with Centro, (the passenger transport authority for the West Midlands), this interactive workshop takes a multi-disciplinary approach to urban transport problems. The importance of projects like New St redevelopment, Metro extension and HS2 to the people and economy of the West Midlands is discussed, in the context of the alternative uses to which such large scale investment of resources could have been put. Students will discuss where the balance should be struck between the need to keep cities moving and the drive to reduce the reliance on fossil fuels and improve the environment, and what role public transport should play in helping to strike this balance.
Aston’s Masterclass Programme provides stimulating workshops from Aston University academics at the forefront of their subject area. These free sessions offer a great opportunity for Year 12 and 13 students to enrich their current studies and to discover more about studying a particular subject for Higher Education.
